Step 2: Explain the Rule
Unit fraction = numerator always 1
Denominator = total number of equal parts
Examples: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4
Step 3: Practice Together
Ask your child to shade one part of a divided shape
Name it together: “One-fourth”
If kids don’t understand unit fractions, other fractions won’t make sense.
